The very best Victorian designers, architects and creatives have been celebrated in this year’s Victorian Premier’s Design Awards – the State’s highest honour for design and architecture.

This year’s coveted Victorian Premier’s Design Award of the Year, the most prestigious accolade in the Awards was awarded to the ISO Brand Identity, designed by Melbourne based creative studio Motherbird and commissioned by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This standout project was also recognised as the Communication Design Best in Category.

ISO Brand Identity, 2024 Victorian Premier’s Design Award of the Year, Designed by Motherbird for ISO (International Organization for Standardization)

The Jury was unanimous in their decision to recognise this project as an exemplary example of Victorian design capability and recognised the significance of a Melbourne design agency rebranding a global organisation such as the International Organization for Standardization, positioning Victoria’s design and creative culture at the forefront of design innovation globally.

ISO faced a formidable challenge with a non-existent brand system that conflicted with its mission towards global standardisation. Motherbird transformed this void into a compelling brand identity that has been effectively integrated across ISO’s global products and services. This strategic rebranding not only enhances the brand’s consistency, but also streamlines decision-making processes, instilling confidence among ISO’s global users.

Minister for Creative Industries, the Hon. Colin Brooks, who presented the top accolade at the Awards Ceremony commented, “From recreation to neonatal health, the legal system to sustainable fashion and global best practice, the reach and impact of Victorian design is staggering. Through the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards we celebrate Victorian design excellence, and proudly showcase the power of good design. Congratulations to all this year’s winners and nominees.
